Stop trading time for money

I have wasted so much time sitting at my desk toiling away for a business that then later decided that I wasn’t necessary. I have work on project for a week only to be told at the end I did it all wrong and it had to be done all over again.

I have sat in so many classes that some school administrator deemed necessary to be “well-rounded” that did absolutely nothing for me. I have sat through some many lectures that did nothing for me, but were required because of an attendance record. I could read the book, teach myself and do so much better.

Why did I do all of these things? The same reason you did them. Because my parents told me to. Because society expected it of me. Or at least I thought it did.

But then I graduated and found out that society didn’t give a shit about me. It didn’t teach me what I really needed to know. Like how to live a fulfilling life.

And then I had a thought that made me nervous: What if I could make more money and not have to live my life in a generic office cube.

I started reading about different people. Really I started teaching myself. Specifically about money. How to use money to create a better lifestyle for myself.

And I found that it can be done. There are really 2 parts.

1. Automate your current finances so you are investing and growing your wealth. You get to the point where your money is working for you and you do not even have to think about it.

2. Create a stream of side income a part from your regular job that eventually grows to outpace your current earnings. And even better make it run without you even being there.

Use the internet. Even if you are not a tech person or just don’t know what the hell you are doing. You know someone who is an can help you. Find a mentor. And don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help from people you don’t know.

Freedom doesn’t happen fast or easy for a normal human being. You have to be diligent and persistent. But it can become your reality.

And you can escape a lifestyle of boredom.
